OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2011. Results of 2010 show that JSC ‘Aeroflot’ became Russia’s largest carrier by the number of passengers uplifted on domestic flights. These data are contained in the review of operations of the Russian civil aviation in 2010 published by the Transport Clearing House (TCH), reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

In 2010, Aeroflot uplifted 4.16 mln passengers on domestic flights, a 25% increase as compared to the previous year. The calculations presented by the TCH show that, for the first time in the post-Soviet period, Aeroflot has outrun by this indicator all operators of the Russian air transportation market. The Russia’s leading airline is also No. 1 by the passenger turnover on domestic flights in 2010 that reached 11,145 bn passenger-kilometers(+29% compared to 2009).

JSC ‘Aeroflot’ is Russia's largest airline by the total number of uplifted passengers (11,3 mln) in 2010. However, the main share of this amount is due to regular international flights, i.e., the segment where Aeroflot has been an unquestionable leader in Russia.

Having become No. 1 in the Russian industry by the number of passengers uplifted within Russia, we have reached a strategically important milestone, - says Vitaly Savelyev, Director-General of JSC ‘Aeroflot’. - Aeroflot considers advanced development of domestic uplifts as a basis for the company’s global development. We believe that one can become a global winner only after having become a national champion.
