Datong Coal Mine Groups Improves Its Employees Livelihood
OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2011. The Datong Coal Mine Group has always taken the improvement of its employees' livelihood as the starting point and the ultimate goal of its development. In particular, the group has spared no effort to help the disadvantaged employees through various ways, reported the press-centre of Datong Coal Mine Group.
In January 2010, Wu Yongping, chairman and CPC committee secretary of the group, promised on behalf of the group at the First Session of the Third Worker Representetive Assembly that none of the employees will be unable to lead a normal life, afford medical care and send children to schools just because of poverty. To fulfill that promise, the group established the "Coal Mine Sunshine Council" to help the poor and the "Coal Mine Hope" to look after the kids' schooling respectively last year in a way of providing more effective and prompt assistance to various needy groups.
The "Coal Mine Sunshine Council" offered timely assistance to those needy employees through a scientific and systematic aid mechanism. During the first series of aid activities, it donated money to more than 200 employees living in absolute poverty. Ahead of the Spring Festival of 2011, it financially aided 80 employees who suffered from serious diseases. In all, the group has spent 80 million yuan RMB helping the needy employees in the past five years.
In September 2010, the group established the "Coal Mine Hope Council" to raise more fund from other enterprises and the society in a larger extent for a sustainable discharging of the aid-schooling undertaking. The new organization was warmly received and supported by all circles of the society and the subsidiaries and employees of the group. On the day when it was founded, about 60 partners of the group donated money generously. It is estimated that the group raised over 30 million yuan RMB helping the poor employees' children complete their schooling during the 1998-2010 period.
