Latvian Timber Exports Increased by 46% in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2011. Timber exports from Latvia increased by 46% in 2010, as KMS Baltics reported.
Data from the agriculture ministry's forest resource department showed that a total of LVL 699.329 million (USD 1.385 billion) worth of timber was exported overseas last year.
Sweden, the UK and Germany were the main export markets for Latvian timber during the period. Latvia exported LVL 160.25 million (USD 316.7 million) worth of timber to Sweden (15.7% of the country's total export volume), LVL 117 million (USD 232 million) to the UK (11.4% of Latvia's overseas timber), and LVL 111.5 million (USD221 million) to Germany.
