Recently the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved 10 domestic units including Baosteel Engineering Technology Group Baosteel Industrial Inspection Co. to become the pilot unit for re-manufacture of mechanical and electrical products, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Re-manufacture refers to using the obsolete industrial products such as scraped mechanical and electrical products as the raw material, and adopting hi-tech cleaning process, rehabilitation technology, or new material and new technology for professional rehabilitation or technical upgrading revamping, so that the re-manufactured products can reach the standard requirements of the original new products of the same kind in terms of technical performance and safety quality, etc. The foreign industrial practices prove that re-manufacture not only is the best approach for turning the scraped mechanical and electrical products into resources for utilization, but also has remarkable effect for energy conservation and emission reduction.

To energetically develop re-manufacture industry is an important measure for China's energy conservation and emission reduction, and is also conducive to promoting employment and expanding foreign trade. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology carries out the pilot work for re-manufacture of mechanical and electrical products. The central and local governments will render policy and fund supports for the enterprises included in the pilot list.
