USA to Provide USD262 mn Grant to Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2011. It was said by the US Vice President Joseph Biden in his statement for the Moldovan people in the framework of his official visit to the republic. He welcomed the political transformations taking place in Moldova and the economic reforms being carried out, noting that the USA will continue to provide all necessary political and economic support to the republic.
Joseph Biden said the gratuitous financial aid in the amount of USD262 million to be allocated to Moldova for development of the road infrastructure and support to the agrarian sector, would enable to repair roads and, respectively, improve transportation of goods, to install new irrigation systems, facilitate Moldovan farmers’ access to funding, contributing to the sustainable economic growth.
He said he hoped that thanks to the economic reforms carried out in Moldova and supported by the USA, international financial organizations and donors, more foreign investors would be coming to the republic resulting in opening of new enterprises with well-paid new workplaces, successful promotion of the Moldovan production in the new foreign markets.
Joseph Biden said many countries, including the most developed ones, face acute problems of rise in prices and unemployment. At the same time, he expressed his hope that such a small country as Moldova, facing such serious problems which are inevitable during the economic reforms, will successfully cope with all challenges and the USA will give the necessary support to it. Joseph Biden said both the USA and the European Union are interested in successful Moldova.
