OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2011. The Azerbaijan Investment Summit was held in Baku. AZEL (Azerbaijan Electronics) the leading system integration company in Caucasus was presented at the Summit with report on the milestones of ICT market development in Azerbaijan for period 1990-2010. Igor Yakovenko – Chairman of the Supervisory Board, AZEL has stressed successful development of Azerbaijan ICT market during the last 5 years and great opportunities in this field.

“ICT is the second on priority field of Azerbaijan economy after oil-sector and we have all the necessary prerequisites to expand role as a regional information hub” –  Igor Yakovenko noted.  Also, it was announced during the speech that AZEL obtained new status as the most accredited partner of Symantec in South Caucasus and Middle Asia and re-confirmed Gold Preferred Partner status of HP for 2011.

Summit was organized by AzPromo (Azerbaijani Export & Investment Promotion Foundation), Ministry of Economical Development and Euroconvention Conferences Company.

More than 50 investors from different countries of world (USA, Germany, England, UAE, Spain, France, Hong Kong and etc.) attended the event. These investors represented the finance, agriculture, construction, alternative energy sectors. The main purpose of Summit was development of business cooperation and discussion of trade, business and investment opportunities in South Caucasus and Caspian Sea region.

At the same time, development perspectives of bank and finance, transport and road infrastructure, development of telecommunication sector, sustainable business opportunities in agriculture and food industry and other topics were discussed within the summit.
