IDGC North-West approved the Plan of measures for the prevention and elimination of complex technological breakdowns, emergencies, preparation of mobile forces and resources for the autumn-winter period of 2011-2012. The main target of the Plan is to organize interaction with the concerned organizations to prevent massive power outages (local authorities, consumers of electricity and others)

This year's joint training of the  branches of IDGC North-West with the use of mobile capabilities will take place in Arkhangelsk area(Arkhenergo-Vologdaenergo-Komienergo), Murmansk area (Kolenergo-Karelenergo) and Novgorod area (Novgorodenergo-Pskovenergo). Joint trainings are held each year.

Every year, the schedules of emergency restriction of power consumption are developed and agreed with the regional dispatching services and regional authorities in accordance with the Plan.

One of the most important problems is cooperation with electric grid companies which operate in the service zone of IDGC North West. This is a set of so-called regional network organizations - for the whole of Russia there are over 2 thousand small distribution companies and owners. Such fragmentation makes it very difficult to coordinate the works to restore electricity supply in case of massive outages of electricity consumers.

The plan includes a number of activities in the branches of IDGC North West. For example : audit of emergency stock of materials and equipment, the organization of emergency training for operational staff, the organization of the system to inform consumers, entering into agreements with airline companies and other organizations to search for damage of power facilities in case of  accident and emergency.
