OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2011. We did not have any injury or casualty related to the earthquake. All the production lines in Kashima Steelworks are currently suspended. Other sites of Sumitomo Metals are  operating normally. The fire in coke gas holder in Kashima was extinguished.

The earthquake has damaged facilities such as gas holders, coke oven, blast furnaces and port facilities. Kashima Steelworks has no tsunami related submerged area.

We are focusing all the resources of Sumitomo Metals Group to restart all the facilities in Kashima as soon as possible.
