Ukraine Improved Basic Indicators of Socio-Economic Development
OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2011. Specifically, in 2010, for the first time, nominal GDP exceeded 1 trillion UAH, reaching 1 trillion 86 billion UAH and in per capita - 23,7 thousands USD. Real GDP growth was 4.2%, that is twice bigger than the GDP growth rate of EU countries (1,8%).
In 2010, average nominal wages over the previous year increased by 20% and amounted 2 thousand 239 UAH, and in January 2011 - 2 thousand 297 UAH that is 19,9% more than in January 2010.
On February 1, 2011 the total amount of arrears of wages declined compared with the corresponding period of 2010 to 20.6% or 348.0 mln and amounted to 1 billion 344.4 million UAH.
Number of unemployed (aged 15-70) decreased by 153.6 thousand people in the last 9 months of 2010 now it is 1.8 million. Unemployment rate of population of this age has decreased from 8,6% to 8,0% of the economically active population and healthy age population - according to 9,4% to 8,7%, which is 0,9% below the corresponding figure for EU countries.
The Inflation for 2010 was 9,1% that is the lowest level for the last seven years below the average for the CIS, which is 10,0%.
In general, situation with prices in the consumer market had positive dynamics in 2010. In January and February of this year consumer price growth was almost twice lower than in the corresponding period of 2010 (101.9% versus 103.7%) and one of the lowest among CIS countries.
