OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2011. The Economy Minister Valerii Lazar said it during the discussion of the project of restructuring the Moldovan Export Promotion Organization presented during the special meeting at the Ministry of Economy with representatives of public structures, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and others participating.

The restructuring project was developed taking into consideration the experience of the similar organizations in the European Union states. The necessity of the MEPO reorganization came from its inefficiency caused by numerous factors, including, insufficiency of funding, poor management and personnel, as well as the necessity of realization of one of the main goals of the economic policies of the country’s government - creation of the export-oriented economy.

The MEPO is suggested to become a public agency or institution subordinated to the Ministry of Economy with two major subdivisions – the export promotion department and the investment promotion department. The institution’s budget is suggested forming mostly by off-budget funds, by attracting resources of the international and non-governmental organizations. Valerii Lazar supported use of concrete instruments of Moldovan export promotion and foreign investments attraction.

“We should purposefully promote concrete industries, for example, the sector of information technologies, the agrarian sector or energy, promote special conditions, created for investors. We need to use such methods as investment-hunting, to work on the level of concrete projects and use autosourcing services. All possible forms and methods of work are supposed to give result”, the Minister said. Valerii Lazar ordered that the document to be added and completed within 1-2 weeks taking into consideration the suggestions voiced during the discussion and to be submitted for discussion again.
