Port of Vostochny Throughput Is up 17.3%
OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2011. Port of Vostochny (excluding Kozmino Oil Terminal) in January-February 2011 increased by 17.3% compared with the same period last year, to 3.35 million tons.
The two-month volume of coal and coke, including charge and coal, increased by 18% to 2,67 million tons, handling of fertilizer dropped by 27% to 99,200 tons, shipment of petroleum products rose slightly, to 102,000 tons.
Vostochny (East) Port is the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. It is located on the shores of unfreezing Wrangel Bay of the Japan Sea near the village of Vostochny to the south of Primorsky Territory, 30 km east off Nakhodka. The annual port’s throughput exceeds 18 million tons of different cargoes. The port has 19 berths (4.7km long, depths ranging from 6.5 to 16.5 meters). The port’s assets include one of the largest Russia's container terminal, a coal terminal and warehousing facilities. Port of Vostochny handles chemicals (fertilizers, methanol) and lumber. The port’s berths deep waters can accommodate 150-dwt vessels, of length 280 m, breadth – 40m and draft 15.5m. In 2010, Vostochny Port’s cargo throughput increased year-over-year by 7% to 20,34m tons.
