BMZ Will Upgrade Casting Plant with Siemens VAI
OREANDA-NEWS. March 10, 2011. Belarusian Metal Plant (BMZ) in association with Austrian Siemens VAI will reconstruct its MNLZ-2 continuous casting plant with a view to increasing steel casting 40% to 1.2 million tonnes annually, BMZ said in a press release.
The capacity of the plant now stands at 856,000 tonnes a year. “After the reconstruction, the annual casting capacity of the plant is expected to increase to 1.2 million tonnes of steel – high grade steel, alloy steel and carbon standard grade steel.”
According to director of Siemens VAI division in Belarus Nikita Mikhevich, the company will be using its best competencies and experience to successfully implement the project. “The project will be completed in a few phases will take not more than 24 months. Siemens VAI specialists will be doing their best in order for the reconstruction of MNLZ-2 to become a solid step in BMZ’s modernization program for the next five years,” Mikhevich said.

State-run BMZ was established in 1984. It exports 85% of its output.
Siemens VAI Metals Technologies GmbH & Co, headquartered in Austrian Linz, produces equipment for ferrous and nonferrous industries.
