OREANDA-NEWS. March 9, 2011. An important event for the aviation industry of Ukraine took place. The AN-158 regional jet designed by ANTONOV Company in a wide cooperation with more than 200 enterprises from 15 countries of the world received the Type Certificates. Having performed the wide programme of certification tests, the aircraft proved its compliance with the requirements of the Certification basis.

The Certificate issued by Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee was handed over to Mr. Dmytro Kiva, President – General Designer of ANTONOV Company, by Mrs. Tatiana Anodina, the Chairman of Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC). The Certificate issued by State Aviation Authority of Ukraine was handed over by Mr. Anatolii Kolesnik, the Chairman of this organization. These documents give right to start operation of the AN-158.

When presenting the Certificate, Mrs. Anodina noted in particular: “The airplane is certified on system of the IAC certification, which is recognized in 64 countries of the world. Our norms of air worthiness are fully harmonized with the American and European requirements. Iit is very important for the export potential of the AN-158 airplane. The AN-158 meets the requirements to regional airplanes, the strictest requirements on noise level and ecological compatibility. In the process of tests the AN-158 confirmed its ability to work in different conditions, including airports with intensive traffic, in high mountains, to land under requirements of ICAO IIIA category. I am sure that the AN-158 will not only occupy the certain niche but will be successfully compete in the market”. Mr. A.Kolesnik in his turn said that “The AN-158 may occupy a leading place amongst the airplanes of such a class.”

Mr. Nikolai Azarov, Prime-Minister of Ukraine, participated in the ceremony of the Types certificates presentation. In his speech he told, in particular, that this event witnesses that “the enterprise develops in scientific direction as well as in modernization one. The confidence that Ukraine will return itself the status of aviation country appears. We do all our best to continue this process. Our airplanes are being awaited for in both domestic and foreign markets”.
