Moldova Names Target Markets for Its Wines
OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2011. The Agriculture and Food Ministry jointly with five wine-making associations have signed a memorandum on the promotion of Moldovan wines in 2011. According to the memorandum, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and China will be the target markets for Moldovan wines in 2011.
Other actions will be oriented towards the local market, as well as towards the Romanian, Baltic and Belarusian markets. Over 200,000 euros will be earmarked to this end from the state budget, the budgets of the exporting companies and from the proceeds received from international projects.
The document envisages the principles of promoting wines by joint actions so as to secure a sustainable impact on the target markets, as well as the cooperation between the public authorities and the wine-making associations in the organization and implementation of joint actions.
The Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization, the projects of the Centre for the Promotion of Imports and CEED II/USAID II addressed letters of support to the signers of the memorandum.
The memorandum was signed by the Agriculture Ministry, the Wine Producers and Exporters Association, the Guild of Moldovan Wines, the Employers' Association of Grape Vine and Wines, the Union of Oenologists and the Small Wine Producers Association.
The signers of the memorandum advocate the diversification and development of sales markets, the promotion of a competitive image of the Moldovan wine production, joint efforts and human resources for an efficient promotion of Moldovan wines, and the establishment of a public-private partnership in the organization and administration of wine promotion.
A council for promoting wines in 2011 will be made up on parity principles of representatives of the private sector and the Agriculture Ministry to carry out the implementation of the promotion plan.
The plan of wine promotion in 2011 is the result of the joint efforts taken by the private wine-making sector and the Agriculture Ministry with the support of the CBI and CEED II/USAID in Moldova.
