OREANDA-NEWS. March 03, 2011. Ministry of Agriculture and Food is developing two bills to support agriculture, which will soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Deputy Minister for Agricultural Policy and Food Nikolai Bezugly informed the Prime Minister about this during a working visit to scientific establishments of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

The first bill provides for the consolidation of agricultural land. In particular, it clearly captures the purpose and defines the value of agricultural land. Therefore, it creates legislative guarantees that those lands, which are necessary to sustain intensive agricultural production, will be protected from misuse.

The second bill concerns the tenants’ responsibility for fertility of exploited lands. In particular, the rent of land for industrial purposes would include the obligation to keep the determined by soil fertility, or to increase it.
