OREANDA-NEWS. March 02, 2011. The volume of cargo handling by SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk in January-February 2011 declined in comparison with that of 2010 by 24.3% to 2,317,000 tons, the state-owned enterprise press service said.

In February this year the port’s freight volumes shrank by 31.2% compared to February 2010, to 1,095,000 tons.

Container throughput of Illichivsk in February rose by 0.5% to 23,900 TEUs, and in the period of Jan-Feb – by 0.4%, to 45,400 TEUs.

State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among four top Ukrainian ports. The port encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable import/export freight flows of over 30 million tons a year. In 2010, cargo throughput of the port fell by 7.5% year-over-year, to 15,55m tons.
