Moldova Asks IFC to Prepare Companies for Privatization
OREANDA-NEWS. March 02, 2011. Moldova is asking the IFC to help attract qualified foreign experts to prepare some large public companies for possible privatization. The request was voiced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Valerii Lazar during the meeting with Anna Maria Mihaescu – head of the mission of the International Financial Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank.
Particularly, the matter concerns attraction of experienced and reliable foreign experts to assess the financial and economic situation and market conditions for large enterprises with the state capital to be privatized within the coming years. The head of the Economy Ministry underlined that these enterprises could be reformed by different methods but the Moldovan authorities together with foreign experts need to find the most optimal solutions and the most appropriate time for their privatization.
The IFC is IFC is a member of the World Bank Group providing investments in the private sector in developing countries. IFC helps companies and financial institutions in emerging markets create jobs, generate tax revenues, improve corporate governance and environmental performance, and contribute to their local communities. The goal is to improve lives, especially for the people who most need the benefits of growth.
