OREANDA-NEWS. March 1, 2011. The Government of India has entrusted the additional charge of Managing Director, ONGC Videsh Limited to Mr. Joeman Thomas, Director (Exploration), OVL from 28 February 2011.         

Mr. Joeman Thomas Post Graduate in Applied Geology from IIT, Powai, Bombay and joined as a Graduate Trainee in ONGC in 1976. He became Director (Exploration) of ONGC Videsh Limited in February 2007 and holds this charge where his responsibilities include exploration as well as acquisition of properties.    

During early stages of his career he gained experience in operations and in exploration of the Western Continental Shelf. He subsequently moved to Keshava Deva Malaviya Institute of Petroleum Exploration (KDMIPE), Dehra Dun where he spent most of the time in Basin Evaluation of different basins in India and abroad. He was head of the Petroleum Economics Division of KDMIPE which was responsible for undertaking the economic evaluation of E&P ventures both in India and abroad. During the same period he was also associated with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in many exploration rounds and worked as a key member in the Government delegation participating in road shows in promotion of exploration acreage to investors in India and abroad and in negotiations and final award of acreages to companies.  

Mr. Joeman Thomas Joined ONGC-VL in 2001 and was actively involved in the growth of ONGC-Videsh Limited portfolio to its current status today.
