OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. Today, during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has stated that for the first time in history of Turkmenistan this year gives real promise of exporting Turkmen wheat known for its high quality to world markets.

This has become possible through successful implementation of the new agricultural policy based on the state support for the agricultural sector, provision of material incentives to farmers, adoption of innovations of Turkmen agricultural scientists, application of scientific advances in this field, etc. Thus, Turkmenistan ranks among bread-grain exporters and has taken a new critical step to enhance its economic strength that lays the reliable groundwork for its contribution to addressing global food security challenge as stipulated by the UN Millennium Development Goals.
