Fujitsu Launches Global Cloud Services in Australia
OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. Fujitsu, a leading provider of ICT business solutions today announced the unveiling of its Global Cloud Services portfolio in Australia and New Zealand, the first region outside Japan to roll out a trusted and standardized global cloud platform. Combining the scale of public platforms and the security and customization of private networks, the cloud platform is designed to provide customers with the best of both worlds from Fujitsu's Australia Data Centre operations.
The Australian launch of the global cloud service is part of a rolling program which by year end, will see Fujitsu as the first vendor in the world with premium Cloud offerings based in its datacenters located in geographic regions, including Singapore, USA, UK, and Germany, coupled with a globally standardized approach to service and pricing. Fujitsu's Cloud Services offer a fully flexible model for ICT infrastructure, platforms, and applications, allowing enterprises to match technology systems and costs directly to changing business needs. The offering is also differentiated by providing the highest levels of availability, depending on customer requirements, and its highly sophisticated self-service portal.
The Fujitsu approach delivers a single point of contact for the provision and management of all infrastructure requirements through its Cloud Services Portal. The interactive self-service portal allows customers to adjust services, change capacity and usage, and manage billing, in real time with actual pay per use.
Fujitsu's global cloud platform, known as the On-Demand Virtual System Service in Japan, was brought online at the Tatebayashi System Center in October 2010. The cloud service is already being employed by a large number of customers in Japan.
By working with its customers to foster new business and help solve problems facing society in areas such as agriculture, healthcare, the environment, and energy, Fujitsu aims to leverage the power of ICT to enable the creation of a prosperous human centric intelligent networked society that is both rewarding and secure.
Global Deployment Starting in Australia
Fujitsu is the third largest ICT vendor in the Australian and New Zealand marketplace. To answer local cloud computing needs, as well as support those global companies expanding into the region, Fujitsu has built a highly-reliable cloud platform in its state of the art datacenter. Through this datacenter, Fujitsu will deliver the same high-quality cloud computing service it offers in Japan from the heart of Australia.
About Fujitsu's Global Cloud Platform
The new enterprise public cloud service delivers bundled virtualized ICT infrastructure, such as servers and storage functionality, over a network from Fujitsu's datacenters, providing resources that can be employed on-demand in accordance with the customer's needs. The service ensures a high level of reliability that is sufficient for deployment in a company's mission-critical systems.
By utilizing this service, customers can avoid having to build their own ICT systems in times when ICT infrastructure is only temporarily needed, or for business systems for which there are wide fluctuations in capacity requirements. Customers can utilize an ICT system by simply accessing Fujitsu's datacenters when necessary, thereby significantly reducing ICT system costs.
Fujitsu is positioning this service as the core public cloud platform of its cloud strategy. Fujitsu aims to deploy its diverse array of technologies and the wide range of services that it has developed over the years in new areas such as agriculture and the healthcare sector in which the utilization of ICT systems has been limited, as well as in the development of smart grids and other social infrastructures. This in turn will allow new solutions to be offered, opening new opportunities in the application of ICT systems.
Not only does the public cloud service dramatically reduce the costs and effort involved in deploying and operating an ICT system, but it can flexibly accommodate a company's need to gradually expand its ICT resources based on the growth of its business, as well as the need to adjust the scale of a system in response to changes in demand.
