Contract for Project of COEP Signed Officially
OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. The contract signing ceremony for the project of College of Engineering and Petroleum (“COEP”) Saba Al-Salem University City-Kuwait University was held ceremoniously in the office building of Kuwait University Construction Program (“KUCP”) in Shadadiya. The contractor’s representative, Mr. Heting Shen, President of Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. (“MCC”), and Mr. Hossain Kharafi, President of Khalid Ali Al-Kharafi & Bros. Co.(“KAK”), together with the employer’s representative, Dr. Moudi Al-Humoud, Minister of Higher Education, witnessed by Mr. Jiemin Huang, Chinese Ambassador and Mr. Yaowu Hu, Chinese economic counselor, signed the project contract on behalf of the Contractor and the Employer respectively, reported the press-centre of MCC.
At the contract signing ceremony, Dr. Moudi, Professor Abdullatif Ahmad Al-Bader, president of Kuwait University, Dr. Rana A. Al-Fares, Director of KUCP, Ambassador Jiemin Huang, Ms. Dan Huang, Vice President of MCC, and Mr. Hossain gave an oration successively.
The following are present at the signing ceremony as well: Jianguo Wang, Board Chairman of China MCC17 Group Corporation Ltd. (“MCC17”); Jin Cai, Vice General Manager of MCC17; Yongjie Xu, Vice General Manager of MCC International; Yongfeng Xu, General Manager of MCC Middle East; Xiaohua Ma, Executive Vice General Manager of MCC Middle East; Aiping Guan, Business Representative of MCC (Middle East), and so on.
The bid package for the construction of Sabah Al-Salem University City-Kuwait University has been divided into 22 sections and COEP is the first main body section. The total contract value of the Project is about 142 million Kuwaiti Dinar (about 0.5 billion US dollars) and it is the biggest general contract for MCC in the Middle East up to now. MCC17 will be responsible for the execution of the Project
The successful bidding for the Project symbolizes that the paradigm of central coordination by MCC Middle East, cooperation among the construction subsidiaries in Kuwait and collective resources allocation has gained the staged achievements.
