Moldova to Increase Cost of Licenses for Casino
OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. It is stipulated by the amendments to the Law on licensed kinds of business activity passed by the Parliament in the first reading on the initiative of the chairman of the commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita.
The alterations suggest the twice increase in the cost of the license for running casino of up to six tables – from 180,000 to 360,000 leis for each table. Veaceslav Ionita said the matter concerns restoration of the previous cost of the license which was cut twice last year as a result of a technical mistake. According to him, the ruling Alliance didn’t take that decision but as a result of a technical mistake, the respective suggestion of the previous Parliament deputy Veaceslav Untila was reflected in the final variant of the approved bill.
The damage caused to the budget by that error is estimated at 5.6 million leis. The PCRM faction’s representative demanded to set up a special commission to identify the guilty of this situation. This suggestion was not supported by the parliamentary majority.
At the same time, Veaceslav Ionita said the bill passed means annulment of the previous law and all those who paid for the licenses at the mistakenly low prices will have to compensate the budget losses for the whole previous period.
