OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. GAZ Group’s Ural Automobile Plant takes part in the X International Defence Exhibition and Conference IDEX-2011 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of United Arab Emirates, reported the press-centre of GAZ Group.

It is the third time that Ural Automobile Plant has taken part in an IDEX large-scale defence forum. IDEX-2011 is the biggest exhibition in the Middle East region. The participants are representatives of African countries, countries of the Middle East and Persian Gulf. IDEX is one of the most significant international exhibitions of armaments and safety technologies.

At the defence exhibition Ural Automobile Plant is demonstrating a vehicle developed in 2010 – Ural-6370 heavy-duty all-wheel drive truck. The main components installed on the truck are produced by the leading European manufacturers, which made it possible to achieve the reliability and quality of Ural-6370 comparable with the best foreign-made trucks in this class. The vehicle is equipped with YaMZ-652 Euro-4 412 hp engine (produced by Avtodiesel Yaroslavl Motor Works of GAZ Group under Renault-Trucks license), ZF and Raba transmission components, Wabco и Knorr-Bremse braking systems, Hella lighting and other. Cab-over-engine cabin mounted on a spring suspension with four hydraulic shock absorbers is equipped with a steering column adjustable by height and tilt. The basic version includes Eberscpacher or Planar parking air heater. The truck has Pilot driver’s seat on pneumatic suspension, electrically heated and electrically driven rear-view mirrors. The vehicle can be produced in the ‘dump truck’ configuration and ‘truck tractor’ configuration for transportation of various heavy machines. The truck tractor is designed to tow road-trains up to 75t.

Ural trucks have maximum adaption for operation in the most severe climatic conditions, including mountain passes, sands and bad roads. Ural trucks can effectively operate in ambient temperatures from –50° to +50° C. Ural vehicles are easy to repair and can be stored outside. The main characteristic feature of these vehicles is high off-road capability, which is ensured by a powerful engine, special design of driving axles and centralized system of tire pressure regulation. Ural vehicles have a high level of components unification, which makes it possible to reduce production costs, operating and maintenance costs. Over 200 types of specialty vehicles are made on Ural platform: crew buses, cranes, tank trucks, fuel trucks, fire engines, mobile repair shops and many other vehicles, including vehicles for oil and gas industry, forestry, mining and municipal services.
