OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2011. The Swiss company Mercando Green Technology will invest 25 million euros into construction of the first biogas production plant in Moldova to be one of the biggest in the CIS. It is stipulated by the contract on funding the project on construction of the industrial park in the village of Tsarigrad in the district of Drochia, where the plant will be located, signed by representatives of the Moldovan company BioEnerAgro and Mercando Green Technology.

Under the contract, Mercando Green Technology undertook to fund building of the object worth 25 million euros. Alfred-Andreas Watz , Mercando Green Technology manager general, said his team is happy to work with BioEnergAgro SRL and is ready to fully finance one of the largest energy projects in Moldova. The project Manager is the MG-Ecotech Management Expertise LTD company. It will coordinate the implementation of the project.

The funds are expected to be transferred in several stages, the first tranche, amounting to 4-5 million Euros, to be received next month. At the end of the visit to Moldova, the investor’s representatives had a meeting with the Economy Minister, Valeriu Lazar who said the government intends to fully support implementation of this project as it is particularly important for the country. The plant will produce 16 million cubic meters of gas from biomass a year. It will be used for the national economy’s needs.

The enterprise will be producing gas from the law raw materials – corn silo. It is planned to implement biofuel production technologies and to use biofuel for heating greenhouses to grow vegetables. They will also build plants for electric power production on the basis of biogas. BioEnergAgro also plans to obtain the secondary product – bio-fertilizers in the volume of 60,000 tones a year. It is planned to create 100 workplaces with the average salary of 400 euros. 350 more people will get jobs in the agrarian sector.
