RTS Released Stock Market February 14-18 Trading Results
OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2011. Over the week of February 7-11, 2011, the RTS Index went down by 0.72% to reach 1,868.40 points (1,881.90 points as of February 11, 2011). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 16.82 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 9.83 points) and ordinary shares of JSC "IDGC Holding" (MRKH) (down 1.95 points).
The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 1.89% to reach 11,537.00 points (11,759.78 points as of February 11, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 0.26% closing at 2,295.47 points (2,289.44 points as of February 11, 2011).
Last week’s drop on the stock market was accompanied by a decrease of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went down by 9.30% to reach 26.19 points (28.88 points as of February 11, 2011).
Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated multidirectional movements. The largest downturn was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index decreasing by 1.49%. A significant decrease was also shown by the oil & gas sector, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index going down by 0.96%. The largest growth was demonstrated by the financial and telecommunication sectors, with the RTS Finances Index and RTS Telecom Index adding 2.03% and 1.55% respectively.
The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 0.59%.
Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.37% against the ruble to reach 29.24 rubles per US dollar (29.35 rubles as of February 11, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of February 14-18, 2011 equaled USD14.04 billion (411.20 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,470.90 million.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,397.99 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD510.96 million and ordinary shares of OAO "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD201.19 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 55.43%, 20.26% and 7.97% respectively.
The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of Opened Joint-Stock Company "Company "M.video" (MVID) that went up by 10.67% to USD9.85 followed by OJSC LSR Group (LSRG) – by 10.11% to USD42.37 and ordinary shares of JSC Acron (AKRN) – by 8.88% to reach USD46.
The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "IDGC Holding" (MRKH) that fell 10.87% to reach USD0.164 followed by preferred shares of Novosibirskenergo (NVNGP) that lost 7.83% to reach USD41.014 and ordinary shares of OAO "PROTEK" (PRTK) that shed 6.62% to reach USD1.905.
