OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2011. The collective tourist accommodation structures were visited by 229.9 thousand tourists in 2010, up 0.9% than in 2009. 166.3 thousand (72.3% of the total number of structures) are Moldovan tourists and 63.6 thousand (27.7%) – foreign tourists, according to the National Statistics Bureau.

In 2010, the number of tourists accommodated in health-improving structures reduced by 8.2% (26769) and in tourist villas and other recreation structures – by 25.6% (18,386).

At the same time, the number of tourists accommodated in hotels and motels increased in 2010 by 5.6% in comparison with 2009 – to 93,911 people, in tourist and agro-tourist boarding houses – by 7.6% (13,290), hostels for visitors – by 19.5% (14,187), summer camps for pupils – by 4% (63,350). 102.5 thousand tourists or 44.6% of the total number of tourists accommodated in the collective tourist accommodation structures were registered in 2010 in accommodation structures classified according to the stars.

Most foreign tourists arrived from Romania – 24.2%. The index of usage of the current capacity of the collective tourist accommodation structures last year was 32.7%. The current capacity of the collective tourist accommodation structures in 2010 totaled 4328.9 thousand bed-days, up 13.8% against 2009.
