Danube-Black Sea Deepwater Passage Improved Performance in January
OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2011. Average intensity of ship passage of the Danube-Black Sea in January 2011 was 4.2 vehicles per day, which is the biggest indicator of progress in January compared to previous years.
If in January 2008 the Ukrainian part of the passage was 72 vessels in 2009 - 64 in 2010 it made 103, in January this year the rate was 131 ship. This is 81.9% more than in 2008.
In addition, Ukrainian ship passage is 22% higher than similar rates for the Romanian Sulina channel which carried 107 ships. Ukrainian navigation of the vessel passed under the flags of 19 countries, including Ukraine and Russia.
Note that for the first time in one month five vessels with a trim greater than 5 meters has passed there. For example, in 2008, six such ships passed, 2009 – 21, 2010 - 13. An absolute record of the actual checkpoint maximum fact trim of the ship was set - from the port of Ismail to the Black Sea the ship "Captain Grinenko" with a trim of 5.55 meters was towed.
The dam fully executes its tasks - protects the approach channel waterway from north-eastern sea currents and sediment. The dam does not only successfully resist the winter storm, but is the new home for animals and birds.
Let us recall that the volume of cargo in deepwater is increasing. 2008 it amounted to 1.09 million tons. 2009 – 1.13 million tons. 2010 - 1.62 million tons.
According to the industry leadership, the restoration on Ukrainian territory of the Danube waterway connecting the sea solves the main task set by the President and the Government of Ukraine. "Companies of marine industry of Danube have reliable transportation routes. Strategic role will continue to increase", the Ukrmorrichflot Chairman Serhiy Kryzhanovskiy said.
