Gas-Powered KAMAZ Vehicles Bring Future Closer
OREANDA-NEWS. February 24, 2011. KAMAZ gave another batch of municipal vehicles equipped with Euro 4 gas engines to the municipality of Naberezhnye Chelny on terms of leasing.
Vasil Shaykhraziev, Mayor of the city, accepted 8 combined street cleaning dump trucks D-405A based on KAMAZ-65115-30 chassis running on natural gas. This machinery will renew the vehicle fleet of Naberezhnye Chelny and operate in winter and spring periods cleaning streets from snow. Then, the city’s municipality will use these vehicles without winter accessories as 15-tonne dump trucks for other purposes.
The first batch of KAMAZ’s new snow plows with diesel engines was given to the city on December 10, 2010. A complete set of special equipment – a cistern, a body with a conveyor and a spreading disc, a centrifugal pump with a power takeoff attachment, a hydraulically operated brush, etc. – was mounted by specialists of ARZAMAS MACHINE-BUILDING FACTORY FOR COMMUNAL SERVICES against KAMAZ’s rush order which was made on the initiative of Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ.
At that time, after a meeting with the participation of Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the RT, a decision was taken to equip municipal vehicles on KAMAZ chassis with low-consumption and eco-friendly gas engines. KAMAZ produced a sample of such machinery which was tested in Naberezhnye Chelny under extreme conditions of this winter. Gas equipment for such vehicles is produced and mounted by specialists of OOO RariTEK, KAMAZ’s partner in Naberezhnye Chelny producing and servicing trucks and buses running on natural gas.
Vasil Shaykhraziev informed that the gas-powered vehicles showed their advantages during operation. In January, only fuel saving formed 19 thousand roubles.
Gas KAMAZ vehicles and NEFAZ buses are already equipped with eco-friendly engines produced by the company and compliant with Euro 4 standards and technical regulations which, as is known, will be introduced in Russia not earlier than in 2012. Besides, KAMAZ gas engines yield to Euro 5 requirements only in one indicator – emission of the so-called “solid particles” – at this stage of their development.
As to fuel economy, they are low-consumption. Estimated total savings of a gas-powered truck KAMAZ-65115 form 520 thousand roubles a year in comparison with a diesel one. NEFAZ buses with gas equipment and other accessories are not inferior to them either: each of them annually saves 420 thousand roubles for its user. And taking into account fuel price change trends, these figures are even higher.
