Izhorskiye Zavody Initiate Mentor Project
OREANDA-NEWS. February 22, 2011. The mentor project is aimed to increase the prestige of the worker profession in general and to improve the professional skills of Izhorskiye Zavody employees. The project was initiated by Gazprombank, as the company pays significant attention towards career development of te workers and technical specialists of Gazprombank Group’s companies.
The project will involve two aspects. The first one is the selection of the most competent workers who have the necessary knowledge and skills to pass on, and organization of the mentor project itself. That includes the development of education programs, forms and methods in each field, as well as the mentor payment systems. The project will encompass metallurgical professions -- steelmakers, smiths, press operators and modelers – at LLC OMZ-Spetsstal and LLC OMZ-Casting Facilities and machine-building professions at Izhorskiye Zavody and LLC IZ-Karteks.
The second aspect is the one-time grant system for the best mentors. 15 best mentors will receive grants following the students’ qualification exams results. Besides, the selection of the best mentors will take into account the results of the Professional Skills Contest traditionally held in April-May at Izhorskiye Zavody, to include the young workers studying under the mentor program.
In the future the mentor system will include not just the workers but also the technical specialists joining the company after graduation. The mentors will help the graduates to adapt to the new conditions faster and acquaint themselves with the production specifics.
