OREANDA-NEWS. February 22, 2011. A regular meeting concerning construction of Baltic nuclear power plant noted that the pioneer site is complete and the concrete mixing plant had passed tests; the similar second plant is to be put on line in August 2011.
 
The meeting was attended by Director of the Department for Capital Construction at JSC Concern Rosenergoatom Nikolay Pavlenko, Leading Specialists of the Project Management Department of the Concern Alexander Zatolokin, Director General of JSC Baltic NPP Yuri Shalimov, First Vice Prime Minister of the Government of Kaliningrad Region Sergey Buchelnikov, as well as representatives of the branch of JSC Concern Rosenergoatom – Directorate of Baltic NPP under Construction, JSC Northern Construction Directorate and subcontractor-companies.
 
The meeting participants visited the construction site and especially noted that works at all 27 facilities were on schedule.
 
The meeting also noted that the equipment installation would start soon at the reinforcement fabrication plant along with fixed power supply. On the construction site surfacing continues with about one million cubic meters of soil are to be moved out. According to Director of the Northern Construction Directorate Alexander Shcherikanov, as soon as the weather is favorable, the work to build access roads and to fence the industrial plot will continue, and in early March the stationary canteen construction will start.
 
In the nearest time tenders for main construction period works are to be called. In this regard, the management of Baltic NPP jointly with the regional government will meet with representatives of Kaliningrad-based enterprises to assist them in correct formalizing of the required documents.
 
At present, 623 persons are employed at the plant construction; of them 512 persons are residents of Kaliningrad Region. Also, 213 construction machinery items are in use.
