OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2011. From 20 to 24 February, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rosoboronexport will present the newest Russian armaments and military equipment at the 10th International Defense Exhibition, IDEX 2011, to be held in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi.
"This is one of the most interesting and large-scale arms exhibitions in the world. Particularly, IDEX has fostered military-technical cooperation between our country and the
The new concept involves the use of an interactive exhibition complex. For spectacular and dynamic show of Russian military equipment’s capabilities, a wide panoramic screen and interactive 3D models are used. The presentation will be accompanied by brief specifications of the equipment. Five to six screenings are planned to be held at IDEX 2011 daily.
More than 20 weapon systems will be presented in the new format. Among them are T-90S MBT, Msta-S SP howitzer, BMP-3M IFV, BTR-80A APC, TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system, Smerch and Grad multiple rocket launchers, 120mm Vena automated self-propelled artillery system, Nona-SVK self-propelled artillery gun, Khrizantema-S SP anti-tank missile system, as well as helicopters.
As expected, the BMPT, a unique tank support combat vehicle, which will also be presented in a new format, will arouse much interest among professionals. It carries powerful armaments, including two 30mm 2A42 automatic cannons coupled with a 7.62mm machine gun, two missile launchers with four supersonic Ataka-T ATGMs, two 30mm AG-17D automatic grenade launchers. BMPT’s crew includes three operators enabling quick detection and simultaneous destruction of three different targets in the 360-degree sector at once. The targets are allocated among the crew members by the vehicle’s commander, who himself can fire in duplicate control mode, if required. With its powerful armoring and high mobility, the BMPT can be used both jointly with tanks, destroying low-observable and most dangerous targets like as enemy antitank weapons, and independently in order to strengthen and support the infantry, escort and guard convoys and facilities, defeat terrorist groups.

A round-the-clock all-weather capability, powerful weapons and high survivability are its distinctive features. The Mi-28NE is currently entering service with the Russian Army.
