OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2011. ARMADA (MICEX, RTS: ARMD) hereby announces that its subsidiary has won in a public tender held by the Information Technology Department of the city of Moscow for the right to develop and implement an automated IT system for a transplantology unit.

Upgrading the Russian healthcare system is a top priority area for state finance. As much as RUB 5.7bn (approx. USD 195m) is expected to be allocated to install information systems in healthcare institutions in the Moscow region within the next two years. On the federal level, the government expects to spend up to RUB 24bn (approx. USD 821m) for this purpose in 2011—2012.

Work aimed at setting up an IT system for the transplantology unit will be conducted in 17 healthcare institutions in Moscow, including Sklifosovsky First Aid Scientific Research Institute, Botkin Hospital, Pirogov Hospital, Moscow coordination center for organ donation, Puchkov ambulance station and other major institutions attached to the Healthcare Department of the city of Moscow.

The main purpose of the system’s development is to create a unified database on people, institutions and organizations that participate in organ donation process, and to integrate healthcare institutions into healthcare information systems.

Head of the Information Technology Department of the city of Moscow made the following comments: “A set of systems and databases will be rolled out within the next two years as part of a program to upgrade information technologies at healthcare institutions. Institutions which deal with organ transplants will have priority in the program as 17 institutions will be able to receive the latest information on organs that have become or are about to become available, thereby allowing these organizations to expedite, and most importantly, to improve their operating procedures in order to reduce the death rate among patients.”
