OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2011. A meeting of a standing commission on labor safety with participation of representatives of regulatory bodies: Rostechnadzor (Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision), Rospotrebnadzor, the State Labor Inspectorate of the Republic of Tatarstan and others was held in TATNEFT. The meeting discussed the results of operation in 2010 and major activities in the field of labor protection, occupational safety, industrial and fire safety, prevention of occupational injuries and accidents in 2011, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

A keynote address to the assembled representatives of labor collectives of the Company and the invited persons was presented by N.G. Ibragimov, Deputy Director for Production - Chief Engineer of TATNEFT.

Targeted efforts to improve working conditions, to reduce production risks and improve the technological discipline continued in the structural divisions of TATNEFT in 2010.

The standing committee on labor safety of the executive office of the Company, consisting of 8 sub-committees on different areas of activities, conducted preventive work of safety requirements violations at the facilities and workplaces.

A number of activities were performed during the reporting year, including renewal of well workover rig fleet, completion of the work of equipping all the well remedial servicing crews with video surveillance and video recording systems, and continuation of introducing of the video surveillance systems in the drilling crews, replacement of obsolete mechanical pipe tongs for screwing and unscrewing KM type pipes with modern overhead hydraulic tongs and others.

Activities completed to increase the reliability and corrosion protection of the equipment allowed the company to avoid any man-made accidents in 2010 with an injury to third persons and damage to the environment.

Application of metal/plastic pipes, as well as polymer coated pipes and inhibitory and sacrificial protection allowed reducing the crude oil gathering system failures by 6.7% in 2010.

The Company implements a long-term ecological safety program, designed for the period up to 2015. During the reporting year, 916 wells were equipped with cathodic casing protection, the company produced 765 km of pipes for corrosion-resistant performance and more than 7 thousand tons of corrosion inhibitors, with corrosion-resistant protective coating applied on about 10 thousand square meters of internal surface of vessels and tanks.

In 2010 serious attention was paid to air monitoring in populated areas as well as to the status of water bodies within the area of TATNEFT activity. The industrial-sanitary laboratory of Tatneftegazpererabotka Administration performed more than 15,700 air samples analysis and no exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations of hydrogen sulphide was detected.

Implementation of measures to protect water bodies resulted in steady maintaining chloride content in the main rivers of the oil-producing region of the republic within established limits. Chemical and analytical laboratory of UPTZH for PPD (Process Water Treatment Administration) performed more than 22 thousand analysis for contaminants.

For the purpose of further improving the work on the labor safety and effectiveness of relationship with service companies of the oil block for 2011-2013 TATNEFT has signed new agreements on cooperation with service management companies in the field of production safety and a number of local regulations have been revised.
