Excise Taxes for Tobacco & Strong Drinks Will Grow 50% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2011. Excise taxes for tobacco goods and strong drinks will grow 50% in Moldova starting from April. It was said by Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat at the joint press conference with the head of the International Monetary Fund assessment mission Nikolay Gueorguiev.
According to the Prime Minister, the rise in the excise taxes has been agreed upon with the Fund and aims to increase state budget receipts for the country to depend less on foreign financial assistance as loans.
Vladimir Filat also said the planned growth of excise taxes for tobacco and alcohol also match the context of the talks with the European Union on the EU Association Agreement.
