OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2011. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov invited European investors to participate in tenders to modernize the national GTS. He stated that in Bratislava at a joint press conference of the heads of governments of the Visegrad Group (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland), Germany, Austria and Ukraine.

"Ukraine welcomes European investors to participate in tenders for the modernization of our gas transportation system. Through the Ukrainian GTS passes the shortest and cheapest way to transport energy to European consumers", Mykola Azarov emphasized.

He also stressed that Ukraine has been and remained stable and reliable transporter of Russian gas and oil to Europe.

"Ukraine, as the Visegrad Group countries, is interested in the smooth transportation of energy. Today we are doing everything possible to ensure the reliable and stable transit of oil and natural gas to Central and Western Europe", the Prime Minister of Ukraine said. However, he stressed that Ukraine is ready to continue to implement the diversification of energy supplies and transportation routes, especially in the context of the Euro-Asian corridor.
