OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2011. Imposition of a duty on imports of oil products is possible only after a significant improvement of domestic refineries production. The First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Vadym Kopylov said at a briefing.

He said that the Ministry has proposed the refineries of Ukraine to develop a program to modernize their production of high quality gasoline. "Ministry of Economy proposed the refineries to think and prepare the modernization of refineries in order to produce the required number of high quality modern gasoline for our cars. We are ready to immediately prepare and send the document on duty by the time the upgrade is complete", Vadym Kopylov said.

As the First Deputy Minister explained, if the program is prepared, the Government is ready to announce the introduction of a year duties on imports of gasoline to stimulate the modernization of these plants.

Vadym Kopylov said that the management of oil refineries examines the MEDT proposal. "Today the factories think on the proposal. I think it is right", he said.
