RTS Released Stock Market February 7-11 Trading Results
OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2011. Over the week of February 7-11, 2011, the RTS Index went down by 2.42% to reach 1,881.90 points (1,928.58 points as of February 4, 2011). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 6.54 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 5.09 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKAS) (down 4.38 points).
The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 2.83% to reach 11,759.78 points (12,102.33 points as of February 4, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 1.38% closing at 2,289.44 points (2,321.56 points as of February 4, 2011).
Last week’s drop on the stock market was accompanied by an increase of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went up by 18.86% to reach 28.88 points (24.29 points as of February 4, 2011).
Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest downturn was reported by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index decreasing by 3.66%. A significant decrease was also shown by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index going down by 2.35%. The largest growth was demonstrated by the telecommunication sector, with the RTS Telecom Index adding 2.43%.
The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 1.25%.
Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.02% against the ruble to reach 29.3535 rubles per US dollar (29.3489 rubles as of February 4, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of February 7-11, 2011 equaled USD10.94 billion (321.04 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,488.90 million.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,246.88 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD620.22 million and ordinary shares of OAO "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD201.97 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 48.85%, 24.30% and 7.91% respectively.
The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of PIK Group (PIKK) that went up by 10.98% to USD4.55 followed by RDR representing rights on ordinary registered shares of United Company RUSAL Plc (RUAL) – by 9.94% to USD17.15 and ordinary shares of RAZGULAY Group OJSC (GRAZ) – by 5.16% to reach USD2.65.
The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC Chelpipe (CHEP) that fell 17.27% to reach USD2.73 followed by ordinary shares of JSC VTB Bank (VTBR) that lost 12.33% to reach USD0.0032 and ordinary shares of JSC "Severstal" (CHMF) that shed 10.05% to reach USD16.85.
