OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2011. NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the launch of three new models of Android(TM) based mobile notebook terminals as a part of its Cloud Communicator series for the consumer market.

The new products will be sold as "LifeTouchNOTE" (*1) in Japan from March 10, 2011.

Until now, NEC has promoted the Cloud Communicator mainly to corporate markets as a ubiquitous data terminal. Based on the same concept, these new products were specially developed for a new consumer market segment that requires both the advantages of a smart phone and the high operability of a personal computer.

The new products feature a compact shape that weighs approximately 699g, with a keyboard and 7" wide LED LCD touch panel operated by Android 2.2. Furthermore, battery life will extend for as long as 9 hours (*2).

The new models are also equipped with Wi-Fi (IEEE802.11b/g/n compliant) (*3) and 3G functionality in order for users to enjoy internet services available for Android based smart phones on a larger screen.
