OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2011. At a session of the OECD Competition Committee in Paris (France), Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Andrey Tsyganov had a meeting with the President of Portuguese Competition Authority, Mr. Manuel Sebastiao, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The parties discussed possible avenues for further development of Russian – Portuguese cooperation in the field of competition policy and enforcement, and exchanged information about recent case investigations. Representatives of two competition authorities discussed possible bilateral events in 2011, including participation of representatives of the Portuguese Competition Authority in the food security workshop organised by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia).

Earlier cooperation between the competition authorities of Russia and Portugal took place through exchanging informational materials on the most interesting issues of competition policy. The parties efficiently interacted within the framework of the sessions and the working groups of international organisations, such as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the International Competition Network (ICN).

As a result of this dialogue, the parties have arrived to the same opinion about the need to formalise their bilateral cooperation in the form an Agreement on Cooperation. The Agreement will enable to officially reinforce productive relations between the Russian and Portuguese Competition Authorities, and determine the new level of bilateral interaction conducting efficient competition policy.
