Yanukovych Calls to Improve Utilities Services Market Regulation
OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2011. President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Chairman of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission of Ukraine Serhiy Titenko to take action to improve state regulation of the utilities services market.
The profile central and local authorities are to analyze the current situation with the public utilities tariffs and develop clear mechanisms of tariffs formation.
The instruction suggests that these mechanisms should ensure that the tariffs are economically grounded. Regional peculiarities should also be taken into account during the tariffs formation and marginal profitability determined for the companies providing utility services.
Besides, the Government is to intensify the work on establishment of a national agency to regulate the utility services market and provide a single approach to the tariffs formation.
