Moldova Increased Fruit and Vegetables Export
OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2011. Moldova increased fruit and vegetables export by 27.4% in 2010 in comparison with 2009 – to USD 228.9 million. The share of fruit and vegetable production export in the total Moldovan exports grew from 13.9% in 2009 to 14.5% in 2010, according to the National Statistics Bureau.
The CIS countries, particularly, Russia and Belarus, are the biggest consumers of Moldovan fruit and vegetables.
According to the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture’s data, vegetable harvest in the country in 2010 grew 11.3% - to 343 thousand tones, harvest of fruit, nuts and berries – 5% - to 321 thousand tones.
