OREANDA-NEWS. February 16, 2011. A commencement ceremony was convened for Chengdu Manufacture Base of Taiwan Compal Group, the worldwide largest contract assembler of computers, in Shuangliu County, reported the press-centre of 5MCC Group.

This works was undertaken by the 5th China Metallurgical Construction Group (5MCC Group). Vice Governor Huang Xiaoxiang of Sichuan Province announced the commencement of the project. Ge Honglin, Vice Secretary of CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee & Mayor of Sichuan Municipal Government, made a speech at the event. The ceremony was presided over by Vice Mayor Bai Gang of Sichuan Municipal Government. Cheng Bingqiang, Chairman & Party Secretary of 5MCC Group, and Chairman Rock Hsu of Compal Group were present at the event.

Ge Honglin said, the establishment of Compal Group’s Manufacture Base marked that the high-end consumer electronics in Chengdu would step onto a new height, and this would not only add new impetus to the upgrading of electronic information industry and the improvement of electronic information industrial chain, but also lay a consolidated foundation for building the major global base of laptop production in Chengdu. According to Ge, Compal Group’s Manufacture Base was one of the key projects of Sichuan Province, he expected 5MCC Group to spare no efforts for project implementation by means of its advantages in terms of technology, management and capital as endowed by the worldwide Top 500 Giant, as well as to make contribution to the economic growth of Sichuan Province.

As one of the key projects of Sichuan Province contracted by 5MCC Group, Chengdu Manufacture Base of Compal Group covers a total floorage area of over 600,000 square meters.
