OREANDA-NEWS. February 16, 2011. S7 Airlines, member of the global oneworld® aviation alliance, announces the introduction of mobile boarding pass. The new service is earmarked for passengers, who check in for the flights at the airlines’ website or through its mobile version, reported the press-centre of S7 Airlines.

Mobile boarding pass is an electronic version of the traditional boarding pass, adapted for display on mobile phone. All information about the passenger and details of his/her flight are contained in a special 2D bar code.

"We care that you travel with S7 Airlines from the air ticket purchase date to the end of flight was at most comfortable. Our passengers now have the opportunity to not only buy air tickets and check in for the flight using a mobile device, but also pass all formalities at the airport. Even now more than 70 passengers use S7 Airlines mobile boarding pass at Domodedovo Airport every day", noted Dmitry Chuiko, Director E-commerce, S7 Airlines.

After check-in for the flight with the help of mobile phone or through the airlines’ website, the passenger gets a boarding pass in the form of SMS with reference or in the form of e-mail message on the phone. In order to open the message Internet access should be set on the mobile phone.

The mobile boarding pass 2D bar code contains all information, required for passenger boarding the flight: flight number, route, departure/arrival date and time, boarding time and gate number, as well as seat number in the plane, chosen by the passenger during independent check-in for the flight.

In order to use the mobile boarding pass, it is sufficient to output the image to the mobile phone screen and present 2D bar code for scanning to the airport's services. Before passing security control the passenger is required to approach a special device for passengers with mobile boarding pass (Mobile Check-in), which is located before the entrance to the security control zone, and scan the 2D bar code from the mobile phone screen. After verification of information the device issues a copy of paper boarding pass*.

Currently the service is provided only at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. In the near future the mobile boarding pass technology by S7 Airlines shall be available at the airports in St. Petersburg, Sochi, Frankfurt and Munich.

* In the Russian Federation territory paper boarding pass is mandatory for passing security control at the airport.
