OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2011. Northern Capital Gateway LLC has announced the General Contractor for the works of the first stage of Pulkovo airport development project. The tender among six European companies was won by a joint venture with parity participation of construction corporations Astaldi (Italy) and IC (Turkey). Signing of the contract for the first stage of the project is appointed for early March of 2011.

The contractor has been selected under the following eligibility criterion:

Experience in construction of large international airports,

Economic stability of the company,

Level of interaction with the participants of regional construction market,

Commercial terms of the tender,

Legal conditions of the tender compliant with requirements of international financial corporations.

Major subcontractors of the project have also been named. Italian-Turkish consortium has already expressed its intention to engage the companies Metrostroy and Siemens.

“Essential yardsticks for selection of a general contractor were the international experience in building of large airports and capability to bring in line the European quality and service standards, required by the project, with Russian construction regulations and requirements. We have no doubt in successful implementation of Pulkovo airport development project and construction of new passenger terminal that will contribute to beautification of Saint-Petersburg”, said Sergey Emdin, Director General of Northern Capital Gateway LLC.
