OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2011.  Uralmashplant has negotiated contracts for the delivery of three EKG-12A excavators: one of them shall be delivered to Kovdorsky ore-dressing and processing enterprise ("EvroKhim" company) and the two other excavators - to Kachkanarsky ore-dressing and processing complex ("Evraz Group S.A."). The shipment is scheduled for the last quarter of 2011 - first quarter of 2012.

The EKG-12A is crawler-mounted excavator with 12m3 of bucket cubic capacity. The machine is designed for open pits and is classified as heavy excavator. It is intended for operations under severe climatic and geological conditions.

The machines designed for Kovdorsky and Kachkanarsky ore-dressing and processing enterprises feature new electric-drive system with static converters. This shall contribute to energy saving and increase operability of the machine along with improved production characteristics.

With due consideration of the operating conditions, the excavator boom structure shall be reinforced and the operational equipment shall be modified. The operator's cabin shall feature special conditioning system to prevent ingress of dust and noxious gases, which are inevitably present at open-cut mine.

Excavator information and auto-protection systems enable to monitor operation parameters of the machine units, to define basic service parameters and to prevent assemblies and systems of the machine from incorrect actions of the operator.

The EKG-12 excavator is one of the best models of modern Uralmashplant school of excavator-engineering. The first EKG-12 excavator was commissioned in 1996 at "Karelsky okatysh". There the machine was in operation within 14 years and with no overhauls at that. Two years ago, the enterprise got an excavator equipped with state-of-the-art numerical-control system for the main drives and information system. The machine demonstrated high performance right from the beginning.

In addition, successful performance of Uralmashplant excavators has been proven at open pits of "Uzhniy Kuzbass" and "Chernigovetz".
