OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2011. On February 9 the Government of Karelia considered an investment project of constructing a garbage recycling plant in Petrozavodsk. It was introduced to First Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia Yuri Kancher by representatives of StroiDeltaCom company, Moscow. Ministers of the republic and representatives of the Administration of Petrozavodsk have taken part in discussion of the project.
Construction of a garbage recycling plant in Karelia has been under consideration for a long time, and meanwhile the problem of household waste recycling grows more and more sharp every year. As First Deputy to Head of the Administration of Petrozavodsk city district Evgeny Zhuravlyov has mentioned, Petrozavodsk is the largest garbage producer, and its out-of-town dumping site grows every day. Every year 90,000 tons of solid domestic waste is removed from the city, every day it makes up to 250-280 tons.
Lately, Petrozavodsk has been receiving many offers concerning construction of a garbage recycling plant, some companies have already expressed a desire to recycle Karelian garbage. StroiDeltaCom company has also presented its offers. According to its Director General Nikolay Krysin, they have refused traditional sorting and burning at garbage recycling. Their technology assumes decomposition of garbage, and recycling is concluded with fuel generation, both diesel fuel, or gasoline, or petrochemistry products depending on settings of the equipment. The range of garbage to be processed is also wide, as no sorting is required for recycling.
According to the company representatives, 6 factories working on such technology will soon open in Kaluga – that city has became a pilot area of solid domestic waste recycling.
As for the financial aspect, the investor is ready to invest either own funds, or borrowed current assets in construction of the plant.
First Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia Yuri Kancher said that this project is interesting, and will be considered in detail.
After republican and local authorities explore all the offers submitted by potential investors willing to construct a garbage recycling plant in Karelia, final decision will be made, most advantageous for the city both from the economic, and from the ecological point of view.
