OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2011. A modern pig-fattening complex will be launched soon in Karelia in the settlement of Beryozovka, Kondopoga region.

On February, 4 the enterprise has received from France the first batch of 297 sows and 13 boars. The pigs are 6 months old, and and their live weight is 100-120 kg. The delivered breeds of pigs (Large White, Landras, Duroc) are fast-gaining, single-purpose meat breeds. Breeding qualities of purchased animals are quite high.

Currently, all animals are under quarantine which will last 45 days, and then they will be used for further reproduction with the purpose to receive crossbred progeny of pigs for fattening.

Balancing and commissioning of equipment in the complex proceeds, the personnel receives necessary training.
