OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2011. DTEK, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and municipalities of three towns in Dnepropetrovsk Region: Pavlograd, Ternovka and Pershotravensk, have signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in the framework of the project “Local Economic Development of Ukraine’s cities”. The memorandum focuses on a comprehensive improvement of economic situation in Western Donbass*.
In the framework of the program, the parties will analyze social and economic environment; determine the key ‘growth drivers’ of the region. They will Also formulate the unified development strategy of Western Donbass. The partner towns will receive support in creation of environment favourable for economic development, investment planning and marketing.
‘Three years ago, DTEK and experts of the project “Local Economic Development of Ukraine’s cities” (USAID) initiated elaboration of economic growth strategies in the towns where the Company runs its businesses. For several years these documents have been used as the road map for the towns and the basis for implementing the DTEK’s social partnership program. As we often see now achievements, needs and challenges of such towns are mostly similar. The comprehensive approach proposed in the memorandum signed today will help considerably raise the efficiency of our social investment and find new ways and opportunities for the region’s development’ commented Alexander Tolkach , Director for External Affairs of DTEK.
