KDDI Corporation today announced a partnership with foursquare (Head office: New York) that will make the foursquare for Android application available across KDDI's mobile offerings - "au." The goal of this relationship is to further promote the usage of foursquare's location-based mobile platform among Japanese consumers.

As part of KDDI's efforts to expand the lineup of mobile applications available on its "au" smartphones, a short-cut to download the foursquare for Android application from the au one Market will be available on the "REGZA Phone IS04," which is scheduled to be released on 10th, February, 2011, and the "IS05", to be released in spring, 2011.

"Foursquare is already quite popular in Japan, as demonstrated by the fact that Tokyo is currently the second-most active city in the world in terms of check-ins, " said Dennis Crowley, CEO and co-founder of foursquare. "We are excited about the opportunity to work together with KDDI to make it easy for their customers to quickly and easily access and download the foursquare for Android application onto their smartphones, so that they can discover new experiences around them and share these with their friends and colleagues."
