Ukrainian Ports Increased Transit by 60%
OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2011. This year in sea ports significantly increased cargo handling, in the first place - transit. According to operative data of State service of marine and river transport during January in eighteen sea trade port handled 9.3 million tons of cargo, which was 10.5% higher than the same period of 2010. The amount of processing of transit cargo increased by 60% compared to last year - up to 3,8 million tons.
"Last year we laid a solid foundation for growth, so in January and early February have increased the basic parameters. Necessary to continue this work to reach new volumes of cargo"- the First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Konstantin Efimenko marked.
According to industry experts continue overall processing will continue to grow, and with the improvement of legislation will be achieved the appropriate level of market trends. "We will deepen the cooperation with economic entities of all ownership forms. The development of the industry - working together"- the Head of "Ukrmorrichflot" Sergei Kryzhanovskiy emphasized.
It should be noted that during the year take any measures to return the volumes of cargo that was lost due to the global financial crisis. In particular, the decree came into force Ministry of Infrastructure on limiting the size of discounts to flat rate payment for performance handling of transit cargo in the ports of Ukraine for 2011". The rate of reduction ranges from 18% to 50% - depending on the type of cargo and port.
As a result of January 2011 the leaders of the growth of cargo - port of Berdyansk (processed at 158% more goods than in January 2010); Sevastopol port (130%); Mykolayiv port (35%).
Among the leaders in handling transit cargo – port of Mykolayiv (processed 235% more goods than in January 2010); Kerch port (88%); Port of "Yuzhny" (83%).
Will remind, the basic goods that are processed in Ukrainian sea ports are ore, grain, metals, coal, petroleum and petroleum products.
